    - Mr. Peterson

  • For the 4th marking period, students receive a HE (highly engaged), ME (moderately engaged), or DE (disengaged) on their report cart based on their efforts during the learn at home process. Teachers are permitted to give a 0-3% "bump" to the students final average based on their work in the fourth marking period. For AP Physics C, Honors Physics, CP Physics, and Physical Science, students will be evaluated based on the percentage of assignments that were scored as highly engaged (completed on time) as well as the total percentage of assignments that were scored as highly engaged and moderately engaged (partially completed or turned in late).

    Key:

    %HE = % of assignments that were scored as highly engaged

    %HE + ME = % of assignments that were scored as highly engaged PLUS the % of assignments that were scored as moderately engaged

    *If the percent of assignments that were highly or moderately engaged (%HE + ME) is LESS THAN 50%, the student will be given a DE (disengaged) for the 4th marking period and will receive no bonus percentage to their final grade.

    *If the percent of assignments that were highly or moderately engaged (%HE + ME) is GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 50%, the student will be given an ME (moderately engaged) for the 4th marking period and will receive a 1% bonus to their final grade.

    *If the percent of assignments that were highly or moderately engaged (%HE + ME) is GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO 65%, the student will be given an ME (moderately engaged) for the 4th marking period and will receive a 2% bonus to their final grade.

    *If the percent of assignments that were highly engaged (%HE) is greater than or equal to 80%, the student will be given an HE (highly engaged) for the 4th marking period and will receive a 3% bonus to their final grade.

    *Note --> the maximum final grade is 100%!

    A few examples:
    Student #1 had 10 HE grades, 5 ME grades, and 8 DE grades. There were 10+5+8=23 assignments.
    %HE = 10/23 * 100 = 43.48% --> 43%
    %HE+ME = (10+5)/23 * 100 = 65.22% --> 65%
    **********Since the %HE+ME score is greater than or equal to 65%, the student will receive an "ME" grade and a 2% bonus.

    Student #2 had 8 HE grades, 2 ME grades, and 7 DE grades. There were 8+2+7 = 17 assignments.
    %HE = 8/17 * 100 = 47.06% = 47%
    %HE + ME = (8+2)/17 * 100 = 58.82% = 59%
    **********Since the %HE+ME score is greater than or equal to 50%, the student will receive an "ME" grade and a 1% bonus.

    Student #3 had 12 HE grades, 1 ME grades, and 2 DE grades. There were 12+1+2 = 15 assignments.
    %HE = 12/15 * 100 = 80.0% = 80%
    %HE + ME = (12+1)/15 * 100 = 86.67% = 87%
    **********Since the %HE score is greater than or equal to 80%, the student will receive an HE and a 3% bonus.

    Student #4 had 3 HE grades, 5 ME grades, and 10 DE grades. There were 3+5+10 = 18 assignments.
    %HE = 3/18 * 100 = 16.67% = 17%
    %HE + ME = (3+5)/18 * 100 = 44.44% = 44%
    **********Since the %HE+ME score is less than 50%, the student will receive a DE and a 0% bonus.

    On the gradebook portal, there are columns on the far left for the # of HE assignments, # of ME assignments, and # of DE assignments. In addition, the %HE column identifies the highly engaged assignment percentage, while the %HE+ME column identifies the total highly engaged/moderately engaged percentage.
