Immunization Requirements for ALL GRADES

Immunization update due to COVID-19

Pennsylvania School Health Law requires that students meet certain immunization requirements upon entry into school and at certain grade levels. The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) has recognized that due to the current COVID-19 pandemic some children may have missed their routine preventative medical appointments. Therefore, the DOH has temporarily granted a two month extension for the school immunization requirements beginning at the start of our 20-21 school year. The DOH continues to stress the importance of immunizations as childhood immunizations are essential to individual and population health. Immunizations protect children against the potentially devastating effects of vaccine-preventable diseases. The specified regulations are being suspended temporarily only in response to the impact of the COVID-19 disaster emergency on the availability of immunizations before the start of the school year. We kindly request you provide the necessary immunization records, medical certificate or exemption to the school nurse by November 8, 2020.

A child may still obtain medical, religious, or philosophical exemption from meeting the requirements.
