School Resource Officer (SRO)
CHSD Has a New School Resource Officer
Officer Joe Capers joined CHSD at the beginnig of the 2018-19 school year as the district-wide School Resource Officer (SRO).
Letter of introduction from Officer Capers:
The Camp Hill Police Department, The Borough of Camp Hill and The Camp Hill School District have collaborated to establish a School Resource Officer (SRO) program within the school district. This program was created to ensure a safe learning environment for the students/faculty and staff within the school district. It is also intended to bridge the gap between the police department and the community.
I just want to take a moment of your time to introduce myself and make you aware that I will be working with your children as their full-time School Resource Officer (SRO). My name is Officer Joseph Capers and I have been with the Camp Hill Police Department for the past four (4) years. Prior to coming to Camp Hill I was a Police Officer and Detective for fifteen (15) years with the West Shore Regional Police Department.
As your SRO, I will perform a variety of roles, to include that of law enforcement, problem solving, providing links to students and parents to outside services, mentoring, being a positive role model, and most importantly, to assist in providing a safe environment so every child has the greatest opportunity to learn and grow. I am looking forward to working with your children, the school staff, and you.
Joe Capers
