Voluntary School-based Testing

  • At Camp Hill School District, we seek to maintain a safe environment for employees, students, families, and the community. To help realize this goal, the District is partnering with Concentric by Ginkgo to make an optional COVID-19 diagnostic testing program available to interested families at no cost.

    This optional and free program is designed to provide an extra layer of protection to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The program has two components:

    1. Symptomatic testing for students/staff who show symptoms of COVID-19 at home or school, and;
    2. Asymptomatic testing for students/staff who may have been exposed to COVID-19 but are not showing symptoms will be managed on a case by case basis.

    Each test involves a quick, non-invasive nasal swab that is collected under the supervision of a school nurse. Unlike COVID-19 tests you may be familiar with, these tests are not uncomfortable and are easy to administer. A fact sheet for patients on the CareStart COVID-19 Antigen testing kit can be found here.

    A parent/guardian must be present while a student is being tested.  Links to consent forms and testing information will be sent on an individual basis to the parents/guardians of students or staff members that are showing symptoms of COVID-19 at home or school or may have been exposed to COVID-19 at home or school but are not showing symptoms. Online consent forms must be filled out prior to any testing.

    At-Home Testing
    Camp Hill School District will accept an at-home/over-the-counter test for a POSITIVE COVID test result.  The district may consider an at-home/over-the-counter NEGATIVE COVID test result after consultation with the school nurse on symptoms and the timing of the at-home test.  Because of the variety of at-home/over-the-counter tests available to families, a copy of the test results (picture/screenshot) must be provided to the school nurse as well as the original packaging of the test(s).  The picture/screenshot must include the name of the student and the date the test was administered.  This should be provided to the school nurse prior to your child's return to school.

    As a reminder, if your child is experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms or may have been exposed to COVID-19, please keep them home and call or email your school nurse.
