Jamie Pettit

Hello there :) My name is Jamie Pettit, and I work at Hoover Elementary School as the school nurse. I grew up in Enola and graduated from East Pennsboro High School in 2017. Upon graduating, I decided to venture off to college to become a nurse. I went to Fairleigh Dickinson University, a small school in northern New Jersey, and I received my Bachelor's in Nursing in May 2021. During my clinical rotations, I cared for very diverse groups of patients. From nursing homes, rehab, acute care, psychiatric hospital, and community settings, I learned a wide range of skills to prepare me for this position. In the past, I have also worked as a summer camp counselor for KE Camps at the West Shore Country Club, and I absolutely LOVED working with the kids. Their energy, humor, and creativity kept me excited to walk into work every day. From there, I knew I eventually wanted a job where I could work with kids.

Now that I will be working as a school nurse, I will be focused on health education, health/wellness promotion, and maintaining a therapeutic environment. I want my office to be a safe space for students, staff, and family. Kindergarten through 2nd grade are some of the most important years of a child's life, and habits surrounding health, hygiene, and self-image are long-lasting. I'm specifically hoping to encourage kids of this age to prevent the spread of disease through proper hand washing, teeth brushing, and bathroom use.

If you have any questions about you/your child's health, please feel free to give me a call. I will do my best to work with you to find the answers you need.
