Welcome to Mrs. Kalfas' Class!
Welcome! I'm Brenda Kalfas and I am so proud to be a part of the team here at Hoover Elementary! I’d like to take a minute to give you a little background about myself both professionally and personally. I am originally from Central PA but moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 1986, after graduating from Shippensburg University with an Elementary Education major and Reading minor. I met Mr. Kalfas in Virginia and moved around with him as he flew in the Navy. When he retired from active duty, we moved back home to PA to be near our families. I continued my education, earning a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a PA Reading Specialist Certification from Cabrini University. I live on 27th Street in Camp Hill with my husband and our mini-dachshund Petey. I have two grown children; Jim is a 29 year old engineer who lives in Montclair, NJ and Annie is a 23 year old media editor who lives in Chicago, IL. Both of my kids began Camp Hill schools in Kindergarten with Mrs. Preston and throughout the years, they learned from some of the best teachers I know. I have the highest regard for the quality of education that my kids recieved here in Camp Hill and am honored to be included among some of the best. Some of our favorite things to do are to, kayak, run road races, snorkel, watch hockey, travel!, cook, read, play games, snorkel and just be together.
Oh! and, we adore little dachshunds!
