Dear Parents,

Hi, my name is Lori Bolcavage and I am the middle school reading specialist.  I teach 6th grade intervention reading, 7th grade literacy and intervention reading and 8th grade reading. I have taught at both the elementary and middle school level.  I live in Mechanicsburg and have two children. I wanted to share my thoughts with you about reading.

Reading is a skill and the best way to get better at reading is to read.  This holds true for excellent readers as well as reluctant readers.  We will have a lot of opportunity this year to read novels and short stories. Research shows that availability of books and choice are major motivating factors in getting teens to read.
