Superintendent’s Remarks

 

School Board Meeting – January, 2010

 

January is School Director Recognition Month and, on behalf of the students, staff and administration, we acknowledge the outstanding service that our School Board members provide to the children and citizens of our school district.  Many of our Board members spend 20+ hours of personal time each month attending meetings and school activities, reviewing budgets and finances, educating themselves on various issues and countless other activities.  We appreciate their vision and voice in helping to shape a better tomorrow. 

 

Congratulations to the following….

 

  • Megan Eppley and Molly Gilroy, field hockey players named to the 2009 Pennsylvania All-State Field Hockey 2nd Team

 

  • Kelsey Trimmer and Gabby Zangle, field hockey players named to the Pennsylvania All-Academic Team

 

  • Zach Barnes, Maddie Seefeldt, Julia Gartman, Carly Schaefer and Jessie Schuster, selected to perform in the Cumberland County Honors Band Festival

 

  • Jessie Schuster, selected by audition, to participate in the PMEA District 7 Band Festival, one of one hundred and twenty, selected from over nine hundred musicians

 

  • Maggie Gassert, selected to perform in the Cumberland/Adams County Orchestra Honors Festival
  • Emily Sanchez and Graham Batzler, two members of the Little Women of Orchard House cast, nominated for Apollo Awards for their leading roles

 

  • Mr. Dave Shover and the middle and high school choruses for an outstanding winter concert yesterday

 

  • Miss Anna Baldini, one of the nominees by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for the Mideast Region Coach of the Year

 

  • The sixth grade students and teachers, Mrs. Lydia Keller, Mrs. Karen Wright, Mrs. Crystal Ackerman and Mr. Barry Reddish, for the outstanding 6th grade Western Hemisphere projects.  A brief presentation will be provided to the school board in February.

 

Appreciation to the following…

 

  • VolunTEEN, led by Mrs. Beth Zangle, provided 449 service hours to Camp Hill and our surrounding communities

 

  • Mrs. Lucy Gnazzo and Mrs. Connie Bailey for the outstanding work on the new Annual Report

 

  • First grade teachers, Mrs. Linda Catalano, Mrs. Kelly Collingsworth, Mrs. Anne Leese, Mrs. Rachel Maurer, Mrs. Tara Russell,  for facilitating the annual First Grade Bedtime Story Hour last week 

 

  • The Lion Foundation for funding over $110,000 worth of projects during 2009.

 

 Coming events…

 

  • Mid-terms are scheduled for January 19th – January 22nd  and second semester begins on January 25th

 

  • Course Selection for the 2010-2011 school year will be held on February 8 & 9

 

·         The Safe Routes to School site visits will be held in February
